New Book Brings God and Penguins Together
Christian novel Fly Like a Penguin tells the story of the long journey of a Rockhopper penguin seeking his home in the Falkland Islands.
Appleton, WI (PRWEB) October 22, 2004 -- When Wisconsin author Marty Love began writing his first book, he knew he couldnt leave God out of it. How can we forget God? He is the center of my life, and actually the center of all things whether we see Him or not," he said. We tend to ignore Him and act like Hes not there, but Hes the one who made all this incredible creation. Were the ones who messed it up."
His book, Fly Like a Penguin, tells the adventures of a Rockhopper penguin named Hopper who is trying to get to his home in the Falkland Islands. What should have been a short journey becomes a very long one because of a storm and some miscalculations on his part.
So what does God have to do with it? Hopper is shown as a young penguin who learns more and more about his Creator as he goes, and learns to hear his voice more clearly. He seems an unlikely and even reluctant hero throughout the story, even up to the exciting conclusion. At times he wonders why he is where he is, and why things arent going the way he thinks they should, but is reminded that even his mistakes are used in the master plan that is for his good.
Love calls the book a somewhat educational, humorous, adventure story for kids eight to 12 years old, and also for adults. He says there are some things in it only adults will get. There are a lot of fun things hidden in it," he said. Ive gotten a lot of positive feedback from people at church and others, too."
When Love was a teenager growing up in Bremerton, WA, he saw a penguin float by on a log in front of his waterfront home on Puget Sound. After receiving his Bachelors degree in journalism from the University of Washington, he moved to Wisconsin. He got married and proceeded to have many children. During this time, he remembered the penguin and wondered, How did he get there?" After much research and writing in his spare time, he emerged with the book that answers that question and many others as well.
