State-of-the-Art Child Safety Device May Be Key to Finding Missing Children Throughout the Country
The Life Lynx Safety Key was developed with input from THE authorities that are key in finding missing children. Based on that input, The Safety Key was created to give the parents a plan in case their child is ever missing.
(PRWEB) October 7, 2004 -- On any given day in America, approximately 2,000 children are reported to authorities as missing or abducted. Life Lynx has developed a new state-of-the-art child safety device that alerts authorities of a missing child in seconds, including recent front and profile photographs of the missing child, which are the most vital elements of data that authorities need to effectively bring a child to safety.
The Life Lynx Child Safety Key is a digital storage key chain that houses easy-to-use, self-loading software, and walks a parent through the process of inputting 21 data points that have been determined critical by the authorities in the event of a missing child. Some of the information contained within the Safety Key includes name, age, height, weight, address, race, fingerprints, dental records and recent front and profile pictures. Through many interviews with law enforcement professionals it was determined that the profile picture is extremely significant. If a child has been abducted by car, a police officer may only have a side view of the child.
When a child is missing, the most important tool for the authorities conducting the search is to get a recent picture out as quickly as possible," said Andy Haag, vice president, Life Lynx. The Life Lynx software has the ability to submit the data instantly, including the pictures, to our server. At that point, any person, authority, or any state and national Missing Childrens Clearinghouse with internet access can get the data including the picture of that child, creating an instant link between the parents and the authorities to help find that child quickly and safely," said Haag.
Life Lynx partnered with the Powell, Ohio Police Department to kick-off this innovative technology during a Safety Day on Sept. 11, 2004. More than 120 families attended the event, and information on over 200 children was uploaded to Life Lynx Safety Keys. In addition to protecting children, the Life Lynx Safety Key also protects the parents or guardian with built-in password protection. Only the parent or guardian can release information on a child. The information stored on the Safety Key never leaves the device, and can never be accessed by anyone who doesnt have the password.
In the case of a missing child, the most important piece of information to any law enforcement professional is a recent picture of that child so we can distribute it quickly," said Chief Gary Vest, Powell Police Department. The Life Lynx product does just that. We ran a test with our Armada software in our cruisers, and the scenario went flawlessly. If a child is missing, the parent hands an officer the Safety Key digital device and in a matter of seconds the officer can load the Safety Key software, submit a missing child report and get that childs picture and other important data to every cruiser [in Powell," according to Chief Vest.
Since the launch, Life Lynx has been contacted by numerous businesses that want to help bring the Safety Key to the public. We have been approached by a variety of professionals such as a local dentist who wants to offer the Safety Key to his patients and update the keys at each six-month check up to a dance studio in California that wants to offer it to all of their students," said Haag. Life Lynx is also working with a private investigator that promotes family safety. If the Safety Key were ever used by one of his clients, the PI would get an e-mail message to his cell phone with in 30 seconds to contact his client. Negotiations are taking place with a national distributor who will offer the Safety Keys at regional locations throughout the country, according to Haag.
Parents and guardians can purchase a Safety Key online at www.lifelynx.net, and those who register their key with the Life Lynx network will receive free software updates for a year. I am so excited. I have my key up-to-date and it was so easy. I am going to take profile pictures of my children immediately, and get pictures of my husband and parents to load onto my key," said mom Julie, of Springboro, OH.
