Illinois Health Alliance Offers Illinois Residents Affordable Prescription Drugs From Canada

IHA Web Site To Provide Safe and Easy Online Ordering System, As Illinois Becomes First State To Help Residents Buy Affordable Prescription Drugs From Abroad.

Oswego, IL (PRWEB) October 8, 2004 -- Illinois Health Alliance (IHA) today announced that their web site, www.illinoishealthalliance.com, will provide Illinois residents with the ability to obtain safe, low-cost prescription drugs from Canada. The announcement was made in response to Illinois plans to become the first state to directly help residents buy prescription drugs from Europe and Canada.

The IHA web site offers a wide range of high-quality, name-brand prescription drugs. All orders are filled by a licensed Canadian pharmacy and shipped directly to customers in Illinois. In most cases, Illinois residents can save up to 50% by ordering from IHA. All orders pass through the same stringent safety procedures as those observed in the U.S.

We feel IHA is an example of how a free-market based, information-driven organization working in the global economy can revolutionize the delivery of prescription medicines at a significant savings to customers," said Illinois Health Alliance spokesperson, Michael Bock. A recent study by the Illinois Department of Management Services estimates Illinois residents could save a combined $1.9 billion in 2005 by purchasing their prescription drugs from state-approved Canadian and international sources. The study also showed that importing prescription drugs from Canada is not only safe, but in some cases, even safer than purchasing prescription drugs here in the United States.

Illinois Governor, Rod Blagojevich (D), and former Clinton administration adviser, Rep. Rahm Emanuel (D-Illinois), have long been advocates of Canadian drug importation. In 2003, Blagojevich began lobbying the FDA for approval to help the state's residents purchase prescription drugs from Canada. When the FDA opposed his request, Blagojevich helped organize a class-action lawsuit to give senior citizens across the nation access to drugs from Canada.

IHA, who launched their web site in 2002, is affiliated with the state-approved Canadian pharmacy. The company maintains they have the technical infrastructure to provide safe and affordable prescription medication to all of Illinois 12.6 million residents.
