Using this service lets a client use text messaging to verify checks before accepting them. The service inquires in real-time into the status of personal, business, or payroll checks. The client text messages the routing and account number to JUSTCHEX and within seconds the system queries combined databases that include up to 200 million check writer accounts and replies with a result. The system replies include “YES” for an open, funded account or “NO” for a zero balance. A "NO" response can also include a reason code that identifies closed accounts, repeat offenders or an invalid accounts. Details of all responses are also instantly added to the client’s reporting list on the web site as a cross reference for policy compliance.

Valued-added functionality includes velocity control (how many checks a client will accept from the same checking account in a client-defined period of time; e.g. one every 3 days). The reason codes for “NO” responses enable a client to decide if all “NO” responses are not to be accepted. As an example a “NO (N)” response indicates an outstanding non-sufficient funds check or checks was found in the database.
