Peru State Sees Huge Increases in Enrollment - Nebraskas First College Celebrates Largest Incoming Class in History

Peru State College is celebrating the largest incoming class in its 137 year history, along with major strides in on-campus students and online enrollment.

(PRWEB) October 9, 2004 -- Peru, NE Peru State College is celebrating the largest incoming class in its 137 year history, along with major strides in on-campus students and online enrollment.

The historic public liberal arts college achieved a 9 percent increase in on-campus students over last year, with a 5.5 percent increase in students overall. This increased figure does not include hundreds of high school students enrolled in the schools groundbreaking Early Entry program.

Peru State also saw a massive 67 percent increase in online enrollment. Online enrollment includes students enrolled in at least one Internet-based course. Students taking online courses exclusively rose 9 percent. Besides the main campus and online, Peru State offers courses at locations in LaVista (NE), Offutt Air Force Base and Lincoln.

This is a tremendous year for Peru State," said Dr. Ben E. Johnson, president of Peru State College. Our faculty and staff have worked hard to share the Peru State message of academic rigor, accessibility to classes and affordability. These numbers show it is a message that is resonating with Nebraskans and others in the region."

This comes on the heels of more than $23 million in campus improvements during the Johnson administration at the college.

Peru State has plans in the works for greater expansion of our course offerings, improvements to our campus and technology, and enhanced services to businesses in the region," Johnson said.
