Their fiercely golden eyes gleam with such intensity that one might never guess the three tiny tigers scheduled to fly to South Africa on October 29 may be among the last of their kind. The South China tiger ranks among the worlds top ten species on the verge of extinction, but these Shanghai Zoo tiger cubs, two males and a female, are set to travel to a South African training camp as part of a program to reintroduce them into the wild. The Shanghai Zoo and the National Wildlife Research & Development Centre have partnered to save the South China tiger by retraining them to be aggressive and survive in their natural habitat.

(PRWEB) October 10, 2004 -- Their fiercely golden eyes gleam with such intensity that one might never guess the three tiny tigers scheduled to fly to South Africa on October 29 may be among the last of their kind. These tigers or their offspring will return to their homeland in 2007, when their new environment should be ready. In his new novel, The Tiger Chase, Andrew McDermott, an advocate of wild tiger conservation, explores the plight of the South China tiger.

The Tiger Chase is an exhilarating novel filled with brilliant color, soaring emotion, and riveting suspense. A fast-paced tale of adventure and romance, the story centers on the plight of the South China tiger. Readers are whisked around the globe as Dr. Beth Smith, a reproductive veterinary specialist, and Detective John Dean, a feline-loathing police officer, face seemingly insurmountable odds to protect Zhu Zhu, a 254-pound female tiger. In the course of her journey, there are those who wish to care for Zhu Zhu, those who long to worship her, and those who want to steal her.

For an eye-opening glimpse into the world of one of Earths most precious and ancient species, readers will want to immerse themselves in Andrew McDermotts entertaining story about one particular South China tigers fight for survival.
