Entrepreneurs in urban and rural areas dont have to buy a plane ticket, reserve a hotel room or pack their favourite suit in order to attend a conference anymore. Victoria, Canada (PRWEB) October 10, 2004 -- Entrepreneurs in urban and rural areas dont have to buy a plane ticket, reserve a hotel room or pack their favourite suit in order to attend a conference anymore. Four Victoria business owners have organized a virtual conference where entrepreneurs throughout North America can enhance their business knowledge over the phone through a series of teleclasses.

I enjoy conferences but the costs are sometimes out of reach or we just dont have the time," says Paulette Nurse, owner of Need-PC-Help-Right-Now? and a partner in the project. We wanted to provide an innovative, affordable and accessible way for people to learn."

Simmer Up A Solution" is the theme for this five-day virtual conference, being held from October 18 to 22, 2004. The conference is geared towards entrepreneurs in the creation phase, already in business, considering expansion, or those who just want to build their business knowledge," explains Delaney Tosh of Catalyst Coaching. The conference will include six teleclasses, offered over the course of Small Business Week, which will cover topics such as finances, marketing, promotions, websites and expansion. An online message board is also available to participants to interact and ask questions.

What I appeals to me about providing knowledge via the telephone is that we can also reach entrepreneurs who live in rural areas," says Tatiana Chabeaux-Smith of Firefly Communications. It is also a safe way to access information for those people who are just thinking of starting a business but may not feel comfortable announcing it to the world yet."

Teleclasses are a huge trend in the United States that is gaining momentum in Canada. Teleclasses, or long distance learning, are classes conducted over the phone, much like a conference call. Participants sign up for courses over the Internet and are then invited to dial in to a bridge line. A bridge line allows for a large number of people to be on one phone call. Teleclass leaders facilitate their workshop while participants from all over the world listen in and learn.

There are many benefits to teleclass learning. Yes, it is easy and inexpensive but it also minimizes the isolation that many entrepreneurs struggle with," says Linda Conn, business coach and owner of www.VictoriaBusinessTalk.com

Simmer Up A Solution" Virtual Conference for Entrepreneurs will be held from October 18th to 22nd. As workshops are offered over the phone, participants must have a landline and a long distance plan. Access to the Internet is also strongly encouraged. To register and for more information, please visit www.victoriabusinesstalk.com/virtualconference
