Author Devon Ellington has launched a third serial with http://www.keepitcoming.net. This one is called CUTTHROAT CHARLOTTE, s a tale of the coming of age of Charlotte Millhouse. Her father is murdered in front of her by his disreputable business partner Silvanius Cowper as the ship is boarded by pirates. Cowper escapes, but Charlotte must earn her respect from the crew and transforms from innocent teenager to notorious pirate to successful businesswoman during the tumultuous 1700’s to revenge her father’s death. A sweeping saga of the high seas, populated by both fictional characters and historical personalities such as Anne Bonney, Mary Read, Captain Calico Jack Rackham . . .and Benjamin Franklin.

“I researched Captain William Kidd as background for an article I wrote in Montauk last spring,” Ellington says. “I found the pirate stories in the East End interesting. Digging deeper, I found tidbits of information such as pirate captains were elected leaders – and could be gotten rid of if the crew was unhappy with the leadership. I found the idea of democracy in a brutal situation such as piracy a fascinating juxtaposition. For this profession to be at its height as the colonies moved towards independence also caught my interest. The scope of female pirates and their abilities also captured my imagination. CUTTHROAT CHARLOTTE was born out of those interests both colliding and colluding in my brain.”

CUTTHROAT CHARLOTTE is the third serial Devon Ellington has contracted with Keep It Coming. She also writes the popular western THE WIDOW'S CHAMBER (free issue at http://www.keepitcoming.net/widows-chamber.html) and the engaging mystery TAPESTRY (free issue at http://www.keepitcoming.net/tapestry.html) featuring the feisty and popular heroine Nina Bell. Ms. Ellington writes in a variety of genres under several names. Her popular blog on the writing life, “Ink in My Coffee” is available at http://inkinmycoffee.blogspot.com.
