Tiera Software Inc. announces the release of Defect Manager 4.1, a major upgrade to its industry leading Windows and Web based defect tracking management system. Defect Manager 4.1 takes the management of software development and support to a new level.

Defect Manager has been designed for the demanding needs of professional software and consulting companies. The new features in Release 4.1 extend that management capability to reflect today’s complex software product/project development that consists of remote and off-shore workers. Whether home-based domestic employees or out-sourced and off-shore development teams, testing and bug reporting can now be done consistently, accurately and easily via the Defect Manager web interface.

"Defect Manager really is an out-of-the-box system that not only makes it easy to manage out-sourced and off-shore developments teams but makes them a natural extension of your existing staff. The result is increased efficiency and more importantly the ability of you and your team to deliver on time," said Mike Lyons, Vice President of Sales and Marketing. Defect Manager 4.1 also provides tight integration with Microsoft Visual Studio and Microsoft Visual Source Safe.

eTechSupport is a component of Defect Manager that provides a complete out-of-the box technical support portal, allowing end users and clients to open, review, upload documents/screen images, print, export and annotate their issues in real-time as well as search. eTechSupport provides a built-in knowledgebase from your company’s web site so that information is accessible 24/7, not your support staff.

Defect Manager Release 4.1 runs on Windows NT/2000/2003/XP and ships with a Microsoft Access database. Defect Manager also supports Oracle, Microsoft SQLServer and IBM DB2 databases. A 30-day trial version is available from the company's website.
