For several years, semiconductor manufacturers have been searching for the ability to print components located in an Auer boat in a single pass with tight process requirements. Previously, these fine pitch substrates had to be printed in a singulated format because a proper handling system did not exist. However, with the improved fixturing and easy-change tooling recently designed by Speedline, this industry problem has been solved. This new systems allows customers to achieve the high yield and throughput performance required for these semiconductor substrates. The AP Excel provides an accurate and reliable platform for this application; a recent evaluation by one of the world's leading packaging manufacturer led to the adoption of this new handling system in their manufacturing process.

challenges - high speed, reliability, and accuracy," Boyes said. The AP Excel's impressive throughput, uptime, and functionality are ideal for demanding, high-volume printing applications. Options for the AP Excel platform include a dual-cartridge paste dispenser that quadruples paste capacity, Y-axis board snuggers and Speedline's own Gel-Flex(tm) board support system that offers lightning-fast product changeovers. Additional options that improve final product quality yield are MPM's Rheometric Pump technology and the BridgeVision bridge detection system. The system comes standard with a Windows NT(r) operating system for remote file storage and data transfer between the printer and the user's network. The innovative SpeedMax feature provides triple-track staging capability on a single-track transport, reducing cycle time by 1 to 2 seconds per board (up to 15%) compared to conventional handling.
