Ski.com to acquire Lynx Vacations, Adventures on Skis, Sporttours, and other Ski Tour operators.

Ski.com, an independent provider of skiing and snowboarding vacations, is acquiring winter vacation planning assets from East West Resorts, a management company. The transaction will make Ski.com, which was originally known as Aspen Ski Tours, the largest independent US seller of winter ski and snowboard vacations. According to CEO of Ski.com, Harry Peisach, the acquisition will allow Ski.com to “realize economies and take advantage of complementary product lines” and is a great addition to the Ski.com. Ski.com will acquire Lynx Ski and Golf Vacations, Adventures on Skis, Sportours, Any Mountain Tours and Go West Tours.

These assets will increase the Ski.com a reservation staff to 85 professionals and will expand the product line into Europe and South America. “It’s an exciting time with many changes in the industry” says Peisach, noting “There is a lot of synergy between Ski.com and the companies to be acquired -- they have the same client-centric philosophy of catering to the client’s needs with personal service.” The companies to be acquired are operated by Jody Strauch, whose 19 years of experience in the business make her knowledge and abilities a valuable asset and who will stay on to help run the larger company.

“By acquiring these companies, we will provide added value to our clients by negotiated better deals on their behalf. “This is a very competitive environment,” Peisach and Strauch agree, noting “we need the buying power of the combined companies to continue to compete price-wise with the online travel companies.”

Ski.com will offer all the combined companys’ products, with lots of information about the resorts available, including the European and South American options. As always, if they wish, clients can plan a vacation right down to the finest detail using the Ski.com website.

Peisach elaborates that “While we will meet or beat online pricing, we will always offer something that online general travel agencies cannot – a real live person with intricate knowledge of what he or she is selling and the ability to make sure the clients are best matched with their needs.

Online booking will continue to be offered, with the unique twist that every reservation, whether booked online, on the phone, or some other way, is assigned a reservation agent who will audit the booking, make suggestions and contact the client to make sure that everything goes as planned. Our cutting-edge technology allows us to provide faster service at a lower cost with our web site an extension of our company—not the other way around.

“In the winter travel business, unexpected things happen,” says Peisach. “We want our clients to obtain the best experience from their valuable vacation time. That means we want our client to be matched with the best accommodations, air, lift tickets, transfers, rental cars and whatever they need all planned to fit within their budget and around their schedule.” The company prides itself on experience and expertise, personal service, and old-fashioned attention to detail.

This transaction makes the combined company one that will continue to provide what the founding partners always stressed, Peisach noted, namely the best ski vacation experience at the best value with the highest standard of personal service and expertise.”
