Datacraft Launches Global Services Centre In India

Consolidates its Managed Network Services in Asia Pacific

(PRWEB) October 17, 2004 -- Datacraft, Asia Pacifics leading independent IT services company, has launched a Global Service Centre (GSC) in Bangalore, India, to provide high-end support to local, regional and global customers. Datacraft has consolidated its Managed Services Operations into the GSC at Bangalore with Singapore as the Disaster Recovery Centre.

Datacrafts strategy to consolidate its five STARtrac Centers to one GSC is in line with its parent Dimension Datas strategy, to consolidate multiple centres into five centres globally. It was also based on the customer demands to provide consistent services regionally & globally.

Datacraft evaluated several locations in Asia before finally deciding on Bangalore. There were several factors in favour of Bangalore, key among them being a vast pool of English-speaking technical resources, excellent infrastructure and supportive business environment," said Bill Padfield, Datacrafts CEO. The fact that India is now Datacraft's largest subsidiary and home to our largest customer -- the State Bank of India -- also came into the equation."

This state--of-the-art Centre spans a floor space of 11,000 sq feet and can seat in excess of 100 call & help desk agents. The GSC is equipped with world class tools, latest surveillance and IP based call handling systems.

This centre provides services such as Call Management, Help Desk Services, and the complete end to end monitoring and management of a customers IT environment. These services are delivered by a dedicated team of highly skilled and trained engineers employed at the GSC.GSC is a key component of our strategy to grow the Managed Services business," said Sunil Desai, Datacraft's Managed Services Director. It will enable us to deliver cost effective and high quality services, thanks both to the rich pool of talent available in India and the improved efficiencies achieved due to consolidation.

The GSC will enable Datacraft to deliver consistent services, driven by service level agreements, through a standardised, scalable and best-practice driven global services delivery framework. With a critical mass of expertise now focused in Bangalore we can bring new value-added services to market more rapidly, helping customers respond to their changing business requirements," he added.

The GSC in Bangalore is mirrored by a disaster recovery site in Singapore. It has a fully redundant design that include duplication of power sources, backup generators, multiple high-speed links, high-capacity UPS, full fire protection and multiple levels of security.
The GSC processes are ITIL (Information Technology Information Library)
compliant for best practices of operational processes.

Customer-related metrics will be more transparent and measurable across all countries, allowing Datacraft to benchmark against best practices for greater customer satisfaction," said Nagendra Venkaswamy, President, India & Sub-continent for Datacraft.

The investment in the GSC is not expected to have a material impact on the net assets of the Group, and the net saving from the consolidation is not expected to have a material impact on the earnings for the current financial year.
