Fuji Photo Film Co. Ltd Enters Nucleic Acid Market

New QuickGene-800 features proprietary porous membrane and can deliver DNA samples in as little as 6 minutes.

Stamford, CT (PRWEB) October 15, 2004 -- Fuji Photo Film Co., Ltd. has entered the world wide Nucleic Acid Extraction marketplace with a product entry which has received an excellent reception from DNA/RNA research scientists.

The QuickGene-800 is a compact, small footprint, tabletop DNA/RNA isolation system that can deliver an DNA whole blood sample in as little as 6 minutes. Operation is simple and convenient, allowing the operator to simply select a mode then press the start button. Produces higher yield -- up to 5.0 u.g vs. 3.5 to 4.0 - and produces DNA with higher purity than other methods. It also handles RNA extraction with ease.

The key technology, which differentiates the QuickGene-800 from competitive products, is the new, FUJIFILM patented porous membrane, which binds nucleic acids and eliminates the need for a centrifuge. The product attributes include a low membrane thickness for lower contamination, uniform fine pores and a large specific surface area to produce higher yields and 3 modified surface characteristics which produce a highly-hydrophilic surface allowing for the selective elution of DNA and RNA.

The system currently provides kits for DNA in whole blood, DNA in tissue and RNA in cultured cells. Other kits are in development.
