Children are so impressionable and I was not finding books on the shelves that speak to her," said Stephanie Sanders, author. She and publishing partner, Galen Pauling, are the creators of Q.T. The series debuted in 1999 with The Ingredients of a Q.T. Pie and now they have five titles published with three new titles set to be published in 2005. The books have been popular with its target market where Sanders does readings at local libraries and schools. The Detroit Free Press gave the book high marks as well as school librarians. Now theyre available in over thirty states thru Target stores.
Author Sanders knows that a good story is what keeps a child excited about reading. Once I have them reading, I introduce vocabulary words," she said. At the back of the books are words from the story that are defined and phonetically spelled out so children can build their vocabulary. Its important to get them interested in challenging words early so they think its fun to run across words you dont know -- and look them up."
