New Student Activism Group Founded

Students for Freedom, founded in 2004, is an organization created exclusively by students, for the purpose of educating high school and college students about the world in which they live, and what their social responsibilities are in the twenty-first century.

(PRWEB) October 16, 2004 -- One of the most disturbing phenomena of the twentieth century that has carried over into this century is the suppression of students' intellectual growth and exploration, by the ones appointed to aid them - the teachers and educators. Coupled with the "sickness" of political correctness, this has resulted in a generation of young people who will enter the real world with little or no knowledge of what they must do to survive, let alone succeed.

The youth of America do not deserve the shackles with which they have been bound. As the future of America, they should be educated about America's history, langauge, and culture - and be encouraged to explore the same aspects of other nations. They should be educated about politics and industry - and be instructed as to the effect that each has on their lives. They should be educated about the building blocks of family, employment, and responsibility - they should be given control of their lives, instead of being kept in a "protective bubble" from birth to young adulthood.

Over 400 students are expected to attend this year's annual Conference and Convention, taking place from January 23-26, 2005, at New York's Hotel Pennsylvania (NYC). Hailing from across the country - and from across the world - the students will participate in seminars on education reform, humanitarianism, and politics. They will also experience a "political tradeshow" - a convention, open to the public, where different youth and political groups can exhibit their respective resources and services.

Individuals who have committed to speaking at the event include Mr. Ben Shapiro (noted youth columnist), Mr. Nick Rizzuto (noted youth activist within the punk movement), Dr. Patrick Schoof (noted advocate for youth), and Dr. John Taylor Gatto (former teacher, now education reform activist). Engagements are being pursued with Dr. Daniel Pipes (noted expert on the Middle East), Prince Reza Pahlavi (exiled Crown Prince of Iran, pushing for democracy in his homeland) and Senator Zell Miller (D-GA), as well as other expert speakers. The Conference will run from Sunday evening to Wednesday afternoon; the first night of the Conference (Sunday) will feature a Welcoming Dinner, and the last two nights of the Conference (Monday, Tuesday) will each feature a keynote presentation. The Convention will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday from 10am-4pm, and will feature both national and international groups.
