Area Artist Designs Triple-use Cards for US Troops Stationed Away from Family on Thanksgiving

Carolyn T. Ensley, Sedona, AZ artist, has donated cards for Thanksgiving letters to troops for Boxing Day 3. Her internationally collected oils, encaustic and mixed media artworks draw inspiration from living in Chama, New Mexico; Sedona, Arizona; Newtown, Pennsylvania; Albuquerque, New Mexico; Thousand Oaks, California; Athens, Georgia; and Austin, Texas.

Oaks, CA (PRWEB) October 17, 2004 -- Artist Carolyn T. Ensley, formerly of the Conejo Valley, has donated cards featuring her original artwork and envelopes for Thanksgiving letters to troops for Boxing Day 3 in Simi Valley, California on Saturday, October 16.

When my friend Karine Adalian mentioned that the organizers of the event, the Military Parents in Action and Moms for Soldiers, were looking for cards so that every troop member could have a note for Thanksgiving, I said of course I would give cards," Ensley said. My husband, Burt, served with the Green Berets in Viet Nam, so we know how tough it can be for the troops." The cards can be used by the volunteers for Boxing Day 3 to send out the Thanksgiving notes and then re-used by making two postcards with the printed images on them to send to whomever the military recipient wants.

I feel for the loved ones. I have a daughter in New York and sometimes think thats too far away!" Carolyn chuckled. I have been creating and selling my work since I lived in Newbury Park and Thousand Oaks in the early 1980s and on the East Coast in the 1990s. Art is a way of expression and can provide comfort in trying times. I chose an abstract image because each person will see something different, based on their experience."

Carolyn Ensley has made original cards for the last 4 years. They have been watercolor or mixed media originals. These cards were reproduced from an original, specifically for the troops.
