The Legal Software Suppliers Association (LSSA) today announced that BigHand Ltd., the market leading digital dictation vendor, has become its newest member.
BigHand is the only digital dictation supplier to have been granted LSSA membership to date. The LSSA is the UK industry body for legal systems developers and vendors, representing most of the leading UK suppliers. The association aims to both set and maintain professional standards within the industry and manage areas of mutual interest such as the formulation of XML standards.
The Chairman of the LSSA, Barry Hawley-Green of Laserform, stated:
ÂThe LSSA is very pleased to accept BigHand as a member of the Association. An important aspect of their membership application was the innovation they have shown in developing essentially a new technology for UK legal (digital dictation workflow). I personally have admired their quality and commitment to client service which is recognised in the numerous industry awards they have gained over the past 5 years. The fact that their software has quickly become commonplace in many law firms in the country made them a natural candidate for membership. I am confident that BigHand will contribute greatly to the evolution and growth of the LSSA.Â
David Fryer, Chief Operating Officer of BigHand, commented:
ÂHaving been a lawyer myself I know how LSSA membership is perceived very much as a stamp of quality, so we are obviously delighted to have been approved  especially as we are the only digital dictation developer to have been granted membership so far. Joining the LSSA demonstrates our long term commitment to the legal sector, and to developing innovative and complimentary IT systems for lawyers. Input into the LSSAÂs ongoing XML schema can only benefit our client base, as will our signing of their Code of Practice.Â
The LSSA boasts 21 members currently - including almost all the major legal software suppliers. A full list of members can be found on http://www.lssa.co.uk.
