(PRWEB) October 21, 2004 -- On September 23, 2004 QuickSet International was awarded a United States Coast Guard contract to integrate a Surface Surveillance System to monitor the mouth of the Columbia River. Treacherous sand bars and currents endanger ships venturing into this area. Long range infrared and high resolution visible color cameras will be integrated into a camera control and positioning system. The system includes a rugged QuickSet marine pan and tilt positioner, dual camera systems and remote network control and display architecture. The positioner is designed for high winds, spray and salt fog that make the area particularly destructive to all equipment in the area. This system will function 24/7 mounted along side the Cape Disappointment lighthouse. QuickSet will develop the remote complete control system specific for use at Cape Disappointment Command Center that provides local control at the lighthouse and remotely via fiberoptic communication. The system provides for video monitoring at distant locations over the Internet as well.
