PowerVoter.org Launches New Web Site To Help Undecided Voters

California nonprofit offers powerful tools for voters to quickly learn about candidates and propositions for America's big election.

Studio City, CA (PRWEB) October 19, 2004 -- California nonprofit The Loud and Clear Organization today launched PowerVoter.org (www.PowerVoter.org) to help undecided voters prepare for America's big election. The new site, which builds on a beta test version that began earlier this year, helps voters research candidates and propositions, save their progress, and print a "cheat sheet" to take to the ballot box on election day.

PowerVoter offers powerful tools to help voters make up their minds: Instant search capabilities from leading internet search engines, weblinks to government campaign finance information, news media searches and many other public and independent non-partisan sources.

"PowerVoter gives people a quick and easy way to learn about the candidates and propositions that affect their lives," says project founder Freedom Scott Allen. "With so much information available, we provide a quick and intuitive way to make sense of it."

With a few clicks, visitors create their customized ballot overview complete with candidates and propositions color-coded and organized into a logical interface.

Candidate names and propositions are linked to profile pages. From there, users can explore the body of information that exists to get a better understanding of election choices.

Free anonymous user accounts allow visitors to save their congressional, state senate and assembly districts, record and update their voting choices, and generate their own printable cheat sheet to take to the polls on election day. Strict privacy is guaranteed by powerful encryption algorithms and a personal passphrase to which only the user, and no one else, has access.

Built and run with the help of online volunteers with many different political beliefs, PowerVoter is a collaborative public works project. Users are encouraged to join the project by suggesting weblinks and bringing additional states, districts and languages online.

Candidates and campaigns can also contribute weblinks and other information to their profile increasing the value to the user.

"There is a massive effort in America to mobilize voters," says Allen. "PowerVoter provides the tools voters need to make informed choices quickly."
