Independent film director, Tim McCann, to helm first theatrical remake of the 1946 classic, "Angel on My Shoulder".
New York, NY (PRWEB) October 20, 2004 -- T.H.E.M.E. Entertainment has enlisted indie film director, Tim McCann, to helm the long-awaited remake of the 1946 classic, Angel on My Shoulder". Produced by Todd Baker, the film is set to commence principal photography this summer in and around Manhattan. The screenplay, penned by Baker, won a 2002 bronze award at the WorldFest Houston. Beverly Hills attorney and producer rep, Greg S. Bernstein, will handle sales of the project.
McCann is best known for his award-winning independent films Revolution #9" and Desolation Angels". He recently wrapped production on Runaway" starring Robin Tunney.
The 1946 Angel" -- which starred Paul Muni, Anne Baxter, and Claude Rains -- became a staple television library title after its initial theatrical release. However, whereabouts of the films global remake rights were shrouded in mystery for years, and a feature remake was never produced. After an exhaustive 8-month search, Baker tracked down the copyright owner and acquired the project's necessary rights.
Baker and McCann are former students of the State University of New York at Purchase, which has produced such leading lights of the indie scene as Nick Gomez, Hal Hartley, and Parker Posey. The pairing of the two came at the suggestion of Gomez.
Set in New York City, Angel on My Shoulder" tells the tale of a mobster who is sent to Hell before he has a chance to better his life. The Devil gives him an opportunity to spend a few days back on Earth. While there, he manages to redeem himself... much to the Devils chagrin.
