Waxploitation Records announced today it has cut a deal to license Teargas & Plateglass ÂBorrow the Beloveds Eyes and "Book of Black Valentines" for the CBS primetime drama CSI: NY.
Teargas & Plateglass, the secretive illbient collective, recently released their critically acclaimed, eponymous debut album. URB Magazine called it Âunapologetically atmospheric mood inducing dramatic. Hip Hop Elements noted it is Âsinister and angelic. XLR8R Magazine stated it is Âmixed thick like a pool of blood, reflecting fear and starlight in your ears.Â
ÂThe band is wary of attention, and have requested we allow them to remain that way, said a spokesperson at Waxploitation. ÂSo itÂs nice for us that this show will help get the word out a little bit. We count ourselves lucky that the band are fans of Gary Sinise.Â
The album has depended mostly on word-of-mouth, mostly from other artists. and Digable PlanetÂs King Britt has said ÂTeargas and Plateglass restores my faith that deep, dark music still moves the masses and Danger Mouse called the album ÂHeavy visual stuff that sounds like the end of the world.Â
Most recently, the band donated a song to the upcoming non-profit Genocide in Sudan CD which also features songs from System of a Down, Gorillaz, Jill Scott and Yoko Ono to name a few.
