The National Capital Region World Future Society on October 27, 2004 will host a dinner discussion that will give our audience a real understanding on the future of health care. The speaker, Dr. William Rowley, M.D. one of the chief architects of a landmark study for the future of military health care , continues to research and study future trends and needs of healthcare at the Institute for Alternative Futures. Our audience will be treated to informed insight into the speed of advancing medical technology, what if offers us in the long term, the changing definition of health as we move towards an aging and demographically diverse future society and the future delivery of health care services and how it will be ultimately paid for by society. As Chief Operating Officer at the Institute for Alternative Futures, Dr. Rowley continues to focus his research and analysis on national and global healthcare issues and trends. . Dr. Bill Rowley is chief operating officer and senior futurist at the Institute for Alternative Futures in Alexandria, Virginia. His area of expertise is the broad field of health and care delivery. His research, writing, speeches, and workshops offer insights into future needs and preparedness. His clients include health care organizations, professional associations, governmental agencies, and major pharmaceutical corporations. Dr. Rowley received his Doctor of Medicine degree at the University of Minnesota. Trained as a vascular surgeon with extensive clinical and medical teaching experience, he went on to be chief executive officer of two academic medical centers and a large managed care organization. He is a retired Navy Admiral.
