Rallies scheduled in 60 Cities in more than 30 states.

Moms for Kerry, a grassroots group of mothers supporting John Kerry and John Edwards, is coordinating a national Rally Day on Saturday, October 30 at 3:00 pm EDT. The rallies will take place in more than 30 states at the same hour on the same day. American mothers will gather together to unite hands and hearts as they take a stand and speak out for America’s children and their futures.

“We want to send a message to American mothers – and anyone who cares about America’s kids – that this election is too important to sit on the sidelines,” stated Heidi Wanken, the group’s founder. “We believe that John Kerry is the best candidate and offers the best plan for our kids, our communities and our country.”

More than 60 rallies will take place across the country and many will be held in battleground states. Among the cities where rallies are scheduled include Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Albuquerque, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, Detroit, Minneapolis, San Diego, St. Louis, Raleigh, Dallas and Columbus.

“Ohio moms are concerned about the state of our nation. We believe John Kerry is the best candidate to lead our country and that he will provide a better and brighter future for America’s children,” said Hinda Majri-Yates, the Columbus rally coordinator.

Participants will gather at diverse locations, including the Columbus State Capitol, the Las Vegas Strip, New York’s Union Square Park, Dallas City Hall, Albuquerque’s Tigeux Park and Orlando City Hall, as well as at dozens of parks and community centers.

“John Kerry will protect us with a solid foreign policy while also fighting for us here at home with a strong domestic agenda that addresses health care, education and the economy – issues that are very important to us mothers,” commented Orlando organizer Kim Knepper.

Each of the events will feature unique speakers and performances, including elected officials, candidates, local moms and dads, young people, authors, singers and musical groups. Several of the events will be visibility events designed to increase voter turnout on Election Day.

“We know that the Philadelphia suburbs could make the difference in this election and that is why we are working tirelessly in the final days of the campaign,” stated Philadelphia organizer Elizabeth Collins. “This rally will be attended by mothers and others from our area as we take a stand for our kids and stand together to send a message that Philadelphians will be out in force on Election Day and we will be voting for John Kerry.”

Moms for Kerry formed in November 2003 as a core group of mothers determined to make a difference in the 2004 election through grassroots organizing. Members felt the need to take action and get involved in the political process in order to make their voices heard after watching the Bush policies that have abandoned America’s children in favor of special interests. There are more than 100 million mothers in the United States and the demographic is one that is respected and valued by candidates based on mothers’ consistent turnout on Election Day and their commitment to the issues that affect our children and country.

“When mothers vote, they carry with them the hopes and dreams of their children and look for the candidate who will put the interests of America’s children and their futures as a top priority. John Kerry and John Edwards have demonstrated that they will do that and they have outlined a plan for our children’s futures that is comprehensive in its scope. That is why they are the mothers’ choice in this election,” said Wanken.
