Launch of Sensatronics Server Room Environmental Monitoring Solution Ensures Early Warning
US environmental technology manufacturer, Sensatronics has launched EM1 Environmental Monitoring Solution in the UK in conjunction with EU Distributor, OPENXTRA Limited, to help IT Managers ensure against damage to mission critical devices in server and computer rooms.
(PRWEB) October 26, 2004 -- Simple mechanical failure of computer room air conditioning systems or devices, sudden changes in humidity levels, or water leaks can lead to brown-outs, damaged devices and lost time and revenue. At the very least, ensuring constant environmental parameters prolongs the life of costly devices. The EM1 Monitor represents a further development to the existing range of temperature monitoring solutions.
OPENXTRA Managing Director, Denis Laverty asserts, Early warning allows the manager to take action before breakdowns or fan failure impact on devices and users, and is particularly vital when monitoring remote sites. In these circumstances, installing the EM1 can save the considerable costs involved in replacing damaged devices."
The Environmental Monitor EM1 is an easy to use device that connects to your network via an Ethernet hub or switch. Each unit can monitor 4 locations via temperature/humidity and wetness probes placed where required. If environmental conditions of server rooms, switches, hardware devices or specialist environments deviate from user-set parameters, for instance due to fan failure or air conditioning breakdown or leakage, reports and alerts can be sent via email, pager or SMS messaging. Hierarchies of actions may also be set so that differential alerts are effected for different sites, out of office hours or at weekends for example.
To activate remote alarms, logging and reports the EM1 integrates with any SNMP based network management or monitoring application or, using simple HTTP protocol, the user also has the option of writing their own interface.
