Hydrogen Peroxide: More Uses than You Thought.

Thought Hydrogen Peroxide was just for use on scraps and cuts? H2O2 has many uses you may not have thought of.

(PRWEB) October 24, 2004 -- Fantastic Natural Cleaner for the Bathroom
·   Ceramic tile stains: For stains on ceramic tile, pour some 3% hydrogen peroxide on muslin cloth and scrub stain. Rinse with water and repeat if necessary.
·   Cleaner for yellowed bathtubs: Over time, bath tubs can become discolored. Spray on full strength 3% hydrogen peroxide and let stand 30 minutes. Rinse with cold water. While wearing rubber gloves mix equal parts of salt and turpentine. Scrub tub. Be careful of fumes. Work quickly. Open window to let in fresh air.
·   Mildew Remover: Spray 3% hydrogen peroxide on mildew. The scrub with a paste of equal parts borax and lemon juice and rinse.
·   Shower curtain cleaner: Plastic shower curtains can accumulate mildew and soap scum. Place in washing machine with a bath towel with your regular detergent. Add 1 cup full strength 3% hydrogen peroxide to rinse cycle.
·   Toilet bowl cleaner: Mix 2 quarts water and 1 cup 3% hydrogen peroxide. Let stand 30 minutes. Then scrub with brush.
Hydrogen Peroxide for Your Laundry?
·   Table clothes and linens: Place items in sink. Fill with cold water and add 1 cup of 3% hydrogen peroxide and let soak for 30 minutes. If still yellowed, add 1/2 cup more hydrogen peroxide and let soak an additional 30 minutes. Then rinse in a mixture of 1 gallon of water and 1/3 cup of white vinegar. Allow to air dry.
·   Ink stains: Apply 3% hydrogen peroxide with a clean cloth and gently rub on stain. Be careful not to over-saturate. Blot up excess. Rinse with cold water. Blot dry.
·   Perspiration stains: (Do not use on wool, silk or dry clean only fabrics) Mix 1/2 cup cold water and 1/2 cup of 3% hydrogen peroxide. Apply and let stand 30 minutes. Place in washer. Add detergent and wash on cold water setting.
Hydrogen Peroxide Makes an Excellent Kitchen Cleaner
·   Rust spots on Formica: Make a paste of 3% hydrogen peroxide and baking soda. Apply to rust spot and let stand for about 30 minutes. Scrub with a sponge and rinse. Works on Formica and plastic laminates. Apply again if necessary.
·   Copper and brass cleaner: Combine 1 tablespoon flour and 2 Tablespoons of 3% hydrogen peroxide. Rub on copper surface to be cleaned. Then wash in hot water with dishwashing liquid. Rinse and dry with soft cloth.
·   Dishwasher or dishwater booster and sanitizer: Add 1/4 cup full strength 3% hydrogen peroxide to regular detergent. You can also add vinegar for extra action.
·   Drain Cleaner: To help clear sluggish drains, mix 1/2 cup 3% hydrogen peroxide, 1/2 cup white vinegar, 1 cup salt, 1 cup baking soda. Let stand for 15 minutes. Flush with 1 quart of boiling water, followed by hot tap water. Repeat if necessary.
·   Oven Cleaner: Apply a paste of vinegar, 3% hydrogen peroxide and baking soda with a sponge on oven door and walls. Allow to stand 15 minutes, sponge off with warm water.
·   Tile and grout cleaner: Mix 1/4 cup 3% hydrogen peroxide, 1 cup salt and 1 cup baking soda. Apply with a rag or sponge and use a grout brush to work mix into grout. Rinse with water.
