Classic Rug Collection, Known for Its High-end Designs, Introduces New Line of $99 Rugs for the Holidays

Classic Rug Collection, famous for its high-end Gee's Bend Quilt Collection, is introducing two new $99 rugs for the holidays: Marathon, to commemorate a runner's completion of a marathon, and Icthus, a Christian Fish rug. The hand-tufted acrylic rugs, designed by Barbara Barran, represent a new, value price point for this designer-oriented company.

(PRWEB) October 26, 2004 -- Barbara Barran of Classic Rug Collection has designed two new rugs for the holiday season: Marathon, to commemorate a runner's completion of the 26.2 mile race, and Icthus, a Christian Fish rug. "So many people love our designs, but have found our price point to be out of their range," says Barran. "These introductions are value-priced at $99 to make the rugs more widely affordable." Classic Rug has achieved the cost savings by producing smaller rugs in acrylic and by importing the rugs themselves.

"Marathon," a 3'6"x5'6" hand-tufted acrylic rug, targets the millions of runners who have completed a marathon. The rug features all types of runners: black, white, male, female, and differently abled. The rug comes with a personalized label to list the runner's name, race name, date, and time. It is available in blue, red, or gold for $99 (plus $20 shipping). Classic Rug Collection will make a donation to the Achilles Track Club and to Special Olympics for each rug that it sells.

Icthus, Barran's interpretation of the classic Christian Fish design, can be used on the floor or on the wall. Hand-tufted of acrylic, this sturdy 3'x5' rug is practical, attractive, and affordable ($99, plus $20 for shipping). "I chose the two colorways because of their relationship to the Holy Land," says Barran. "Jerusalem Stone, a light tan, resembles the walls of the ancient city. The fish design looks like it is incised in a stone wall. Galilee, a light blue, makes the fish look as if it were caught in a net. This ties in with the theme of Jesus as a Fisher of Men."

Order deadlines for Christmas delivery are December 10 for domestic orders and December 1 for international orders.

The rugs can be purchased at Classic Rug Collection's new showroom at 235 E. 60th St., Ste. 1, NY, NY 10022, in the heart of the design district, on the Web site, www.classicrug.com, or by phone: 212-832-3338 or 1-888-334-0063 (toll-free).
