Food Chain Films Rocks the Vote for MTV
Food Chain directors Vance Malone and Andrews Jenkins helm three Choose or Lose" spots, Permission," Hot Dog," and Donuts", encouraging viewers to contemplate equal marriage rights.
(PRWEB) October 26, 2004 -- MTVs powerful Choose or Lose" Rock-the-Vote campaign encourages viewers to contemplate equal marriage rights through three spots directed by Food Chain Films Andrews Jenkins and Vance Malone.
Permission," directed by Vance Malone, follows a young man on his endearing, infinite door-to-door quest for consent to marry his girl. As the suitor, played by amateur actor Matthew Sheehy, treks from houses to apartment complexes and down country roads, the tagline reads, How would you feel if you had to ask 260 million people for the right to marry?" Copywritten by Clay Weiner, Permission" was shot across the Portland area by DP Eric Edwards and produced by Sally-Ann Dale with Food Chain producer Brad Goldthwaite. Cut to I Dont Blame You," by Cat Power, the spot will air in 30- and 60-second versions. The number of locations we needed to cover required us to be very buttoned up on the shoot day," said Malone. It was great to be able to work heavily with Clay and Sally-Ann on the performance in pre-pro; it made sure we were all on the same page and really helped us nail it on the day."
Subtle and uncomplicated, Hot Dog" and Donuts" from director Andrews Jenkins express the message of Equal Marriage Rights. Find time to think about it before you vote." with strong, candid imagery. Created by copywriter Bryan Johnson and Art Director Howard Herarte, the deliciously witty 30-second spots utilize simple visuals of two iced donuts being pushed together and two hot dogs suggestively bumping against each other in boiling water to wordlessly drive the point home. "Blah. Blah. Blah. Blah Blah... These quotes always come off as trite," said Andrews, but the truth is this was great creative, and working with the best creatives lets me work at my best. I believe that was the case here." The spots were filmed in Vancouver, BC with DP Joe Meade and produced by Zamile Vilakazi and Food Chain producer Rian Moore.
David Cress at Food Chain Films filled the role of Executive Producer. All three spots were edited by Geordie Anderson at Blue Rock NY. Alistair Thompson at The Mill provided Telecine for Permission" with Lenny Mastrandrea at Nice Shoes the colorist for Hot Dog" and Donuts". Blue Rock rep Trevor King played a key role in the donation of sound design, editing, and conforming for the project with Joe OConnell and Gerard Collins at Blast NY contributing sound design.
