LYNDHURST, NJ (PRWEB) October 27, 2004 -- In today's business environment, more and more companies are taking advantage of the latest computing technologies to work faster and smarter.

However, the computers being used need to receive regular care and maintenance for optimal performance to prevent system crashes, freezes, and other problems that can result in lost data and productivity.

Microsoft Certified Professional and System & Design CEO Thomas DeFeo are seeing the problems encountered by heavily used machines not receiving regular maintenance care.

DeFeo explained that computers require regular care and maintenance for optimal performance. "A computer cannot be compared to a refrigerator or other household appliance. It's not a case or plugging it in and forgetting about it.

Your PC needs regular care to prevent system crashes, freezes, and other problems that can result in lost data and productivity. An example of regular care includes tasks such as unplugging the PC and vacuuming the fan intake of the machine to prevent excessive dust from causing your PC to overheat as dust is a good insulator for heat."

Computer peripherals also need regular care. According to DeFeo, equipment like keyboards and mice also benefit from good housekeeping. DeFeo explained, "To care for your keyboard, the first thing you can do is Unplug your keyboard from your PC and hold it upside down and gently tap the keys to remove any loose debris. Next, barely dampen a cloth or cotton swab with a mild soapy solution or glass cleaner and lightly clean the surface of the keys as well as between them. Never use harsh chlorine-based grease cleaners on your keyboard as these can cause damage."

DeFeo also recommends cleaning your computer mouse monthly to remove any buildup. After first unplugging the mouse from the PC, rubbing alcohol on a cloth or cotton swabs can be used to clean the mouse ball and the rollers on the inside of the unit.

DeFeo said that computer users need to be more aware of the importance of updating and backing up files like Word documents. He said, "We receive many calls from both home and business PC users concerning system crashes and other events that have resulted in loss of critical data.

In a large number of instances, system updates like the Microsoft updates, anti-virus updates, and backing up your work are all that's needed to keep your PC in top condition.

Daily backups have to be performed regularly so users don't experience a serious loss of data and productivity."

System & Design provides home and business maintenance contract packages to help PC users keep their machines in top condition. DeFeo recommends that home computer users have maintenance performed every three months to keep their PCs from running into trouble.

System & Design offers weekly, biweekly, and monthly maintenance contracts for businesses that wish to keep their machines running smoothly and data intact.

For those who want to get the best possible security protection, System & Design also provides under four-hour emergency response and standard 24 hour response visits for whenever computer users need immediate assistance or want to quickly secure their networks.
