Proxicasts LAN-Cell Powers Second Consecutive QUALCOMM 3G cdmA-List Award Winners Wireless Network

For the second year in a row, a Proxicast customer is a winner at QUALCOMMs annual 3G cdmA-List Awards presented during CTIA Wireless IT & Entertainment 2004 in San Francisco.

San Francisco, CA & Pittsburgh, PA (PRWEB) October 26, 2004 --- For the second year in a row, a Proxicast customer is a winner at QUALCOMMs annual 3G cdmA-List Awards presented during CTIA Wireless IT & Entertainment 2004 in San Francisco. Earthscope/Plate Boundary Observatory (PBO) was honored with an Innovation Award for its seismic data collection network deployed throughout the western United States and Alaska that monitors earthquake and volcanic activity.

PBO is installing a network of over 1,000 unmanned locations at which seismic and other geophysical information is gathered using multiple pieces of state-of-the art monitoring equipment. Proxicasts LAN-Cell Mobile Gateway serves as PBOs primary communications device, relaying megabytes of data per station per day back to a central database over Verizon Wireless NationalAccess CDMA2000 1X network. This data gives scientists an unprecedented four-dimensional view of active plate boundary deformation and helps the natural hazards community better understand earthquake and volcano behavior, including the recent activity in California and Mount St. Helens, WA.

We are extremely pleased that for the second year in a row, one of our LAN-Cell Mobile Gateway customers is an A-List award recipient," said Proxicast CEO Kevin Weaver. It is a strong testament to the value that the LAN-Cell's unmatched features and flexibility bring to mission critical cellular data applications. We congratulate Earthscope/Plate Boundary Observatory on their innovative and cost-effective approach to building a large-scale remote data collection network."

QUALCOMM congratulates Proxicast and Earthscope/Plate Boundary Observatory, along with all of this years A-List winners, for working together to use wireless data in innovative and impactful ways," said Jeffrey Belk, senior vice president of marketing for QUALCOMM. The volume of nominations QUALCOMM received for this years A List Awards program validates the growing use of CDMA-based mobile business solutions and Proxicast and PBOs collaboration serves as a prime example of 3G wireless datas promise to the enterprise."

Earthscope/Plate Boundary Observatory was one of 8 organizations, selected from a host of innovative nominations from a wide range of companies, public agencies and nonprofit organizations, to receive an A-List Award. The annual 3G cdmA-List program was created by QUALCOMM to honor mobility at work. More information about this years program and winners can be found at www.3gcdmalist.com.
