Leezas Place and FiberMark present creative seminar Artful Memories - With national artists Marah Johnson, Sandra Magsamen and Sharon Soneff
Alz. Awareness Month event presented by Leeza Gibbons Memory Foundation in partnership with the NYC Department of Aging and FiberMark. National artists donate time, corporations donate materials to raise awareness about the importance of preserving memories at a creative seminar open to the public.
(PRWEB) October 28, 2004 -- In honor of National Alzheimers Disease Awareness Month Leezas Place, a community-based caregiver support program of the nonprofit Leeza Gibbons Memory Foundation, will be offering a free, open to the public, creative seminar on Saturday, November 6th. Artful Memories" will showcase the talents of nationally-known scrapbooking artists Marah Johnson and Sandra Magsamen as they lead attendees in the creation of three items using personal photographs -- a mini album, memory heart ornament, and gift tag.
Hamilton Madison House, a NYC Department for the Aging Caregiver Resource Center, will host this hands-on seminar promoting the creative preservation of memories. National paper manufacturer FiberMark, based in Vermont, is the co-sponsor of the event and is donating materials used for the projects. Arizona-based Xyron is donating adhesive products for the 4-hour event as well.
There is no charge for this event, but advance registration is required due to limited seating. Attendees should bring a variety of personal photographs that can be used for their projects. We also suggest you bring a bagged lunch, although light refreshments will be served. Artful Memories" will begin at 10 am and run until 2 pm.

Artful Memories facilitator Marah Johnson is a nationally known artist and scrapbooking educator, whose work may be seen in the leading scrapbook magazines. She is the creative designer and project educator for FiberMark, a member of the design team for Two Peas in a Bucket, a registered artist for Creative Imaginations, and the author of three idea books Metals and More, The Art of Collage, and Tags, Tags and More Tags.
Artist and author Sandra Magsamen is the creator of the well-known scrapbooking collection, Messages from the Heart, featuring Sandras signature art and verses. Many New Yorkers became acquainted with Sandra during last years holiday season when the windows of Saks Fifth Avenues flagship store featured vibrant vignettes, with moving mannequins and set pieces, inspired by images from her book, The Gift. Sandras licensed art collections can be seen in the form of gifts, stationary, serveware, cards and home décor products.
Sharon Soneff, creator of the Sonnets scrapbooking collection shows her love for the artful and intellectual through her work where fluid beauty, inspiring text, historical and architectural imagery find a home together. With experimentation as her teacher, and imagination as her muse, Sharon pursues her passions of watercolor lettering arts in her home studio by the sea.
Founded by television/radio host and avid scrapbooker Leeza Gibbons, the nonprofit Leeza Gibbons Memory Foundation and its signature program Leezas Place were created to educate, empower and energize caregivers and those recently diagnosed with Alzheimers disease and memory disorders. Leezas Place offers programs that integrate educational approaches, connective social activities, emotional support, and intergenerational programming. The New York City Department for the Aging established the NYC Caregiver program to offer resources and support to New York Citys informal caregivers.
