Revival Radio is planning to be one of the groups making application for a full-time radio broadcasting licence under the United Kingdom's new Community Radio legislation.
(PRWEB) October 29, 2004 -- Revival Radio is making an application for a full-time licence under the Community Radio initiative recently announced by Ofcom, the UK's regulator of for broadcasting and communications.
If successful, this would allow Revival Radio to be heard for 24 hours every day for the 5 year period of the licence.
Under previous legislation, Revival Radio was granted Restricted Service Licences (RSL) for a maximum period of 28 days twice each year., which resulted in disappointment for the listening community each time the signal was switched off.
Having broadcast on 13 occasions under the RSL rules, Revival Radio is ready to take on the challenge of a full-time service.
With applications closing in November 2004, Ofcom expects to announce the granting of around 50 Community Radio licence throughout the UK early in 2005.
Strict criteria have to be met by applicants in the areas of community benefit, financial integrity, relevant programming, engineering reliability and managerial capability. The accumulated experience of Revival Radio over the last 8 years provides a firm foundation for full-time operation in all of these important areas.
