Successful Demonstration of Automotive High-Speed Power Line Communication Network From Yamar in Ford Booth at Detroit Convergence 2004 Show

Yamar displayed High-speed power line communication network in Ford Motor company booth at Convergence 2004 show in Detroit. The camera to LCD display network operated over the existing vehicle DC power lines.

(PRWEB) October 28, 2004 -- Yamar Electronics demonstrated its High-speed power line communication technology in Ford Motor Company booth at Convergence 2004 show in Detroit.

Innovative power line communication (PLC) silicon devices were used for real-time digital video communication between a camera located at the back of Fords SUV vehicle to a remote LCD display unit on the drivers front dashboard - with no extra wiring, using the car DC power line also for communication.

Yamars built-in PLC transceivers are specially designed to overcome the hostile communication environment of the vehicle power lines. Furthermore, multiple Camera units can be hooked onto the same powerline and transfer their video information using its built-in multiplex networking capabilities.

The real time demonstration drew attention of automotive experts visiting the show. Many of them pointed out their need for this solution for various automotive applications.

The DC-BUS reduces the number of the bulky wiring presently in use by the vehicle electronic systems. The technology replaces the cost and weight of copper wires with small silicon devices. The devices meet existing automotive communication protocols such as CAN and LIN allowing an alternative physical layer.

Yamars business is in the fast growing market of Multiplex power line communication (PLC). Yamar developed for in the last 10 years products for communication over noisy battery power lines, addressing the vehicle harness, which is the second heaviest and costly part after the engine in the car. The DC-BUS technology has many applications in the advanced automotive architecture, where the power lines become additional channels for communication links within the vehicle.
