17th Century Artist Frustrated By 21st Century World

Imagine a Renaissance spirit like Da Vinci or Michelangelo living in a 21st century world where diffuse and diverse creative outpourings are considered not an asset but an enigma of questionable value

(PRWEB) October 29, 2004 -- Devi Delavie (the artist formerly known as Dan Miner) is the embodiment of the Renaissance mentality of the15th to 17th centuries. From his first memories, he has been a passionate and creative soul. In school he was years ahead of any other student in all his art classes, mastering the subtleties of perspective and shading at about age eight. His grades in other forms of academic studies were a roller coaster because he got bored easily and frustrated with the limitations of the teaching methods used.

Devi remembers, When I was in Junior High School, my Algebra teacher put a series of problems on the board and we all set to work solving them. I noticed a pattern and relationship to the numbers that the teacher hadnt mentioned and quickly raised my hand with the correct answer to all the problems." He continues with a wry smile, My teacher was not amused because I hadnt solved the problems in the usual way. I think at that point I just sort of lost interest in their whole approach to teaching."

He continued, however, to shine in anything that encouraged creativity, like writing, singing, acting, sculpture, drawing and painting. He even received his first commission from his High School Principal to do a mural on his living-room wall. High School" He remembers, Had only one bright spot, and that was in the form of Marianne Hoggatt, my art teacher. She stands as one of those shining memories in my life because she embraced my talent and pushed me very hard to stretch beyond my current capabilities. She was the first true saint I ever met."

Those early days of frustration may have been the major impetus to his kaleidoscopic life. He has become an accomplished and recognized theatrical writer, actor, director, set designer and builder, a sculptor, painter, woodworker, and furniture maker. He wrote and performed original music in clubs and other venues from California to New York. He is also an accomplished architectural designer and has built many of his ideas and designs, with his own two hands, from the ground up.

I am most alive when I can do nothing but embrace the burning fire of creation." He says, quite matter-of-factly. The age-old problem however is that I either spend my time creating or I spend my time pounding the pavement to find buyers for my works. What I need a Renaissance Agent who can match the diversity of my outpourings. In the 17th century, patrons adopted an artist and invested in his creations, it was a win-win situation, and everybody prospered. What I encounter most often when I am employed by a modern business is that they get very uneasy because they cant quite find the right pigeonhole to stick me in. I dont fit conveniently into a file in the personnel department."
Is there an Artists Representative out there with the breadth of experience and connections to be able to market in most disciplines of the visual and performing arts? Is there a 21st century De Medici out there? If so, your 21st century Michelangelo, in the persona of Devi DeLavie, is looking for you.
