Political Analyst Tells What A Bush Win Will Mean

A Second Bush presidential term will profoundly change law, politics, and public policy for decades. It will also spark fierce partisan political battles with Democrats, in Congress, and on America's streets on issues from the Supreme Court to the Iraq war."Bush's second term wll stamp and indelible imprint on America, "says Earl Ofari Hutchinson,"The furor over those issues will be intense."

(PRWEB) October 30, 2004 -- The thoughts unbearable for millions. But what if Bush wins? His deeply partisan agenda for America will profoundly affect law, public policy, and politics for decades to come. This is not a doomsday scenario. Its strictly based on current political and economic trends, facts and Bushs own pronouncements. The issues that will stir the fiercest debate, political battles and public rancor are the war on terrorism, the Iraq war, the mountainous ddeficit, his tax cuts, job erosion, the Patriot Act, the Supreme Court, abortion, gay marriage, and environmental policy. "Millions of voters regarded Bush, says political analyst Earl Ofari Hutchinson, "as a partisan, and divisive president. They will continue to challenge and protest his policies."

That challenge will take the form of knock down drag out battles in Congress, street demonstrations, and acts of non-violent resistance. The greatest danger, though, will remain the Iraq war. Bush will continue to dump $4 billion or more per month into the war. That will further alienate Americas European allies, stoke greater enmity in many Asian and African nations, add billons more to the deficit, cost the lives of dozens more American soldiers, and untold thousands more Iraqis, and ignite even more hatred and violence in the Middle East. Bush will stand these negatives on their head and insist that he launched the war to thwart terrorism, promote democracy, and protect American lives. He will also be tempted to threaten or launch military strikes against Iran and North Korea to eliminate their nuclear weapons programs if sanctions and bi-lateral and multi-lateral talks fail.

There will be other fights. He will barge ahead with his pet plans to privatize social security, expand school vouchers, reinstitute school prayer, impose more federal restrictions on abortion rights, jumpstart Alaska drilling, sharply reduce if not outright eliminate funding for stem cell research, and attempt to ramrod through Congress the nominations of more hard core conservative ideologues to the federal courts."Bush will leave an indelible imprint on America, says Hutchinson, "That will be as controversial as it is enduring."
