Baby, Its Cold Outside - Local 9-year-old Hosts Sock Hop Clothing Drive
Rejallas Sock Hop, to be held in December, seeks donations and sponsors.
San Diego, CA (PRWEB) October 31, 2004 -- We will take any donations, but we really want sock sand underwear in all sizes," explains Rejalla. Not many people ask for socks in their drives." Rejallas Sock Hop, tentatively scheduled for December 12th at Jackie Robinson YMCA, will serve as an entertaining way to collect clothing, toys, and food for those who need them most. Admission to the all-ages dance is free with a new package of socks or underwear, and $5 without a donation. However, all clothing, toy, and food donations will be accepted for the free admission. Rejallas Sock Hop is a dedication to the services that Maxine Wilson performed for over 20 years before she passed in June. Donations will benefit area shelters. Rejallas Sock Hop is still seeking sponsors and volunteers.

When Rejalla Desuse began serving slices of bread, 6 years ago, at Maxine Wilsons Annual Christmas Dinner, he was unaware of the impact he had on the people he was helping that day. The following year, along with a promotion to cranberry sauce, Rejalla began to understand what he was doing and why. His family's tradition was natural to him. He loved to see Miss Maxine, as he called her. Miss Maxine was even more excited to see him. Rejalla was always eager to give up his clothing and toys that no longer suited his needs. Upon hearing that Miss Maxine had passed earlier this year, Rejalla immediately wanted to do something extra in her memory. Rejallas always had a big heart. It was no surprise when he said he wanted to do something special," comments Cecilio Desuse, Rejallas father.
