Website takes the mystery out of finding black mysteries.

(PRWEB) November 8, 2004 -- For the past four years the MystNoir Website has been promoting African-American mystery writers and characters. The website is a labor of love for founder Angela Henry. Henry, an Ohio native, who is also a librarian and mystery writer, decided to create the site after experiencing difficulty while trying to find mystery and crime fiction written by fellow African-Americans.

"I created the website because so many people are unaware of the African-American contribution to the mystery genre. I wanted to share the information Id found because I knew I couldnt be the only one interested in the subject. I was also surprised to discover that there are quite a few non-black authors who have black main characters in their mysteries. I think visitors to the site will find it informative. Its my intention to steer readers in the direction of the new authors that are emerging on the scene. I'm always thrilled when I get positive feedback from visitors telling me I helped them discover a new author. I've even been contacted by students doing research on the history of African-Americans in mystery and crime fiction."

MystNoir has been highlighted in Black Issues Book Review Magazine, was awarded a Golden Web Award for 2002-2003, and was chosen as a site of the week by the Art & Entertainment channels Mysteries.com. It has become an important source of information on African-American mystery writers to many libraries across the country and around the world. A featured mystery website on BookSpot.com, MystNoir highlights one title a month and offers visitors mystery news, writer info, a monthly trivia contest, book reviews, and a free newsletter.
