A Taste of Jamaica Without Leaving Chicago
On Friday, November 19th, the people of Chicago will have the chance to taste authentic Jamaican food without leaving the city at the Taste of West Indies event. West Indies Bakery, a cornerstone on Chicago's South Side since 1993, will be hosting this event. Due to the high demand from people who have tasted the bakery's products, West Indies Bakery is currently expanding throughout Chicago and nationally as well. On November 19th people will have the opportunity to see why West Indies Bakery is expanding and taste the Jamaican flavors of the bakery.
Chicago, IL (PRWEB) November 3, 2004 -- Norma Stephenson, owner of West Indies Bakery, will be hosting The Taste of West Indies on Friday, November 19th at Home of Life Church. This event will allow people the unique opportunity to taste authentic Jamaican food while never leaving Chicago. West Indies Bakery is located on Chicagos South Side and specializes in Jamaican baked goods and food.
West Indies Bakery has been open since 1993 and is a family run business. Ms. Stephenson came to Chicago in 1968 as a young woman from St. James, Jamaica looking for a prosperous future. After working as a nurse for many years Ms. Stephenson decided to follow her passion and open a bakery.
With her son Andrew doing most of the baking and with such a rich Jamaican heritage, West Indies Bakery has been able to make authentic Jamaican food with pride. The bakery is currently undergoing major expansion across Chicago and throughout the country due to the high demand from people who have tasted West Indies Bakerys products.
The Taste of West Indies will have a variety of the bakerys specialties on hand for the event. Some of the food that will be available for the tasting will include their famous Jamaican breads, jerk chicken, beef and veggie patties, and their rich rum cake.
The Taste of West Indies will be held on Friday, November 19th in Chicago at 4650 W. Madison Avenue. Doors will open to the public at 6pm and close at 10pm, with food being served the entire time. A Jamaican band will also be playing live throughout the evening.
