IBC Just Gets Better and Better says Hitachi and NEL
It was the fourth year that NEL, along with its sales and marketing partner Hitachi High-Technologies had exhibited at IBC and this year broke all records in terms of visitors to their stand and interest in their products for SDTV and HDTV MPEG-2 encoding solutions.
(PRWEB) November 6, 2004 -- The main attraction was the new VASA LSI that was being demonstrated using the SC10KE and SC10KD HDTV video encoder and decoder modules. These modules provide broadcast quality 4:2:2 multi-format HDTV performance in a compact, low power package and are both based on the VASA LSI. VASA can work in full specification MP@HL and 422P@HL environments and has a power consumption of less than 3W. Visitors were particularly impressed by the quality of the displayed image and the high integration of the module.
Two revolutionary new technologies being developed by NTT Cyber Space Laboratories were also shown for the first time. This included a Super High Resolution (SHR) encoding and decoding solution with a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels using 4 x VASA chips to accomodate high reality large screen images that surpass conventional HDTV. It is a solution which is expected to challenge the boundaries of D-Cinema applications world-wide. In addition, an H.264 software codec demonstration was running, showing both realtime H.264 encode and decode (at 8Mbps) and also streaming H.264 at low bit rates (700KBps). This technical development will result in the launch of H.264 silicon within the next 12-18mths for both SD and HD markets.
Also bringing in the visitors was the MP2000 MPEG-over-IP solution for Standard Definition formats. The MP2000 enables the design of compact, high quality, low delay MPEG-over-IP solutions. To complete the line-up NEL unveiled it's SDTV MPEG-2 modules in super low delay operation with just over one frame delay (encode-decode) being demonstrated.
"As well as being there to demonstrate our products we wanted to support our customers who were also exhibiting at the show and underline our commitment as a technology solutions provider to the broadcast industry." explains Lorna Garrett, Business Development Manager.
Hitachi and NEL have once again proved that their partnership is bringing the latest technological developments to the Global broadcast industry as the relationship goes from strength to strength.
