SONYA - Opens the Premier Fine Art Gallery, ElevenTen Gallery in Brooklyn NY

The South Of the Navy Yard Artists (SONYA), a non-profit 501c3 organization of professional emerging and established visual artists living, working, and showing in Fort Greene/Clinton Hill and the western edge of Bedford Stuyvesant, is opening the gallery, Eleven Ten Gallery which will feature the artwork of SONYAs and guest artists in solo and small group exhibitions throughout the year.

We invite you to join us and support these vibrant newcomers, which add tremendously to the renewal of commercial life on Fulton Street.

Please join us at 2:30 PM for the official kick-off celebration. In keeping with the celebratory sprit, Yolélé and SONYA will be hosting event programming and dining specials from 5 pm until closing.

Yolélé African Bistro

Located in the heart of Brooklyn's growing Pular-Senegalese community, Chef Pierre Thiam and partner Cheikh Ndaw have combined their love of food and Pan-African culture to create Yolélé. The open kitchen is elegantly integrated into the dining space, which showcases a variety of West African art. A small gallery at the back of the restaurant exhibits paintings, photographs, sculptures and weavings, which will be available for sale together with specialty food items. In naming their eatery, Yolele's owners, owners chose carefully.The word is Senegalese for celebration of life, a perfect expression of a dream fulfilled.

The South Of the Navy Yard Artists (SONYA), a non-profit 501c3 organization of professional visual artists living, working, and showing in Fort Greene/Clinton Hill and the western edge of Bedford Stuyvesant, has found a home. Named Eleven Ten Gallery after its address, 1110 Fulton St., the gallery will feature the artwork of SONYAs and guest artists in solo and small group exhibitions throughout the year. The gallery will also host workshops and presentations, open to the public, on all aspects of making, sharing and appreciating the visual arts.

SONYA looks forward to working with its neighbor, Yolélé, and other local establishments in creating a vibrant and inviting "gateway to Bedford Stuyvesant" on Fulton St. at Franklin Avenue.
