Hands-On! Drumming's Jim Greiner to Lead PASIC Drum Circle Facilitation

Jim Greiner, founder of Hands-On! Drumming®, will teach a Drum Circle Facilitation Workshop at the 2004 Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC), to be held in Nashville, Tennessee on Sunday, November 14. The workshop, designed for beginning to advanced group leaders of all types, will allow individuals to learn the techniques of drum circle facilitation from one of the nation's leading percussionists and drum circle leaders.

Soquel, CA (PRWEB) November 8, 2004 -- Jim Greiner, founder of Hands-On! Drumming®, will teach a Drum Circle Facilitation Workshop at the 2004 Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC), to be held in Nashville, Tennessee on Sunday, November 14. The workshop, designed for beginning to advanced group leaders of all types, will allow individuals to learn the techniques of drum circle facilitation from one of the nation's leading percussionists and drum circle leaders.

The Drum Circle Facilitation Workshop will cover beginning through advanced facilitation methods, and will prepare participants to work with drum circles ranging from a few people to very large groups. Participants will come away with the drumming, leadership and communication skills needed to facilitate community-bonding, rejuvenating and motivating interactive drumming activities for corporate, community and therapeutic groups of all sizes. Playing techniques will incorporate a variety of traditional instruments, including congas, djembes, ashikos, shakers and frame drums. Both formal and improvisational methods will prepare participants to work with groups of any background, in any environment.

Jim Greiner has led over a dozen clinics and workshops at past PASICs. This years Drum Circle Facilitation Workshop is only the second time the Percussive Arts Society (PAS) has offered an extended-length (five-hour) workshop. Mr. Greiner was selected by PAS as an invited Workshop leader, in recognition of his standing in the international drum circle community. He is one of the leaders of the contemporary community drumming movement, and the founder of Hands-On! Drumming based in the Monterey Bay Area of California. Mr. Greiner has over 30 years of drumming experience, including two years in Africa where he was profoundly influenced by the ancient traditions of community drumming. He also plays percussion professionally, and his work has been featured on numerous national and international print, radio and television specials.

The 2004 Drum Circle Facilitation Workshop, open to drummers and non-drummers of any skill level, will be held from noon to 5:00 pm at the Renaissance Nashville Hotel. Instruments will be available at the workshop, although participants are encouraged to bring their own. Registration for the workshop is $50 for PAS members and $65 for non-members, which includes access to the PASIC Drum and Percussion Expo and Terrace Concerts on Saturday, November 13. For those who cannot attend the PASIC workshop, Mr. Greiner's drum circle facilitation training will soon be available to a worldwide audience.
