Director of the Division of Surgery at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto, Canada, Joins the Foundation for Clinical Research in IBD

Robin S. McLeod, MD, FRCS(C), FACS, Director of the Division of Surgery at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto, Canada, and Director of the Surgical Clinical Epidemiology Group at the University of Toronto recently joined the Foundation for Clinical Research in IBD's Scientific Advisory Committee.

(PRWEB) November 8, 2004 -- "Dr. McLeod is one of the most experienced colorectal surgeons and clinical researchers who has specialized in inflammatory bowel disease," said Daniel H. Present, MD, the Foundation's Chairman of the Board and Clinical Professor of Medicine at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City. "We are delighted that she has agreed to become a member of our Scientific Advisory Committee."

Dr. McLeod has published more than 190 peer-reviewed articles, 179 abstracts, and 44 book chapters and book proceedings. Currently, she is a member of the editorial boards of "Annals of Surgery" and "Inflammatory Bowel Diseases." She also is a Governor of the American College of Surgeons and a President Emeritus of the Canadian Association of General Surgeons.

The Foundation for Clinical Research in IBD strives to enhance the array of effective mediations for people who have Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis (inflammatory bowel diseases, or IBD)by providing clinical research grants. The Foundation also encourages young gastroenterologists to pursue clinical careers in IBD and educates patients about these chronic diseases.
