(PRWEB) November 9, 2004 -- New Las Vegas in Blackpool UK? Well it could certainly be a reality if the government gets it's way, if you live in the United States you've probably not heard about the debate thats raging on here in the United Kingdom, so i'll fill you in.

The UK Government would like to change the gambling laws so people can bet for longer and also win a lot more money, I can only guess at the reasoning behind this, and that is to make the UK's holiday resorts a more attractive proposition for investment, for example:

If a Las Vegas entertainment company, wanted to build a complex in Blackpools holiday resort, knowing that the gambling laws had been changed. The benefits to Blackpool would be huge, with more people visiting the resort, additional employment and extra cash to revamp the whole of the resort, because lets face it the majority of people here go to Spain, Turkey or Greece, to get the Sun, but if a holiday resort in the UK can give you top class entertainment and the chance to win a fortune, then I know that I for one would not mind spending a couple of weeks there.

So whats the argument? well you can probably tell which side of the fence I'm shooting from, but people here are opposed to the idea, they believe we have enough problems with gambling addiction and people running into debt and losing their homes, and encouraging people to have a bet or visit a casino will only make matters worse.

Well I'm sorry but I disagree the up side for me is too good to miss with all the top stars and shows coming here, and the chance to win millions, plus a much improved holiday resort all round. I also believe if you are going to get addicted to anything, be it smoking or gambling then you are going to be addicted anyway, no matter what the limitations are.

In fact it would not be a bad idea to set some of the extra money that resorts such as Blackpool would make, to helping people with gambling problems.
