Where Would Jesus Bomb?
A new bumper sticker poses a difficult question for the "Moral Majority".
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) November 8, 2004 -- Brian Snelson, newspaper comic-strip artist and post-apocalyptic author, has stirred up quite a buzz around his local community with a new bumper-sticker slogan that exposes, in his opinion, the hypocrisy of the self-proclaimed Moral Majority".
Where Would Jesus Bomb?" is the question Snelson is inviting all political and peace activists across the nation to ask via stickers and wearable merchandise. As the fine line between politics and religion becomes more and more fuzzy, Snelson has endeavored to help confused and exasperated Americans define where we now stand with this simple but deeply philosophical question.
Ive gotten a lot of positive feedback from Kerry supporters and even some devout Christians," Snelson says, proudly displaying his shiny new bumper sticker (Where Would Jesus Bomb?). And as for some Bush supporters and fundamentalists, it really makes them think about what they are condoning in the name of their religion."
Snelsons car was followed for ten blocks by a guy who wanted to ask him where he could get one of those bumper stickers. He now keeps a stash in his glove box. Many democrats and republicans alike have been searching their souls recently for that perfect sentiment to sum up their thoughts and feelings about the war in Iraq and the myriad issues surrounding this past presidential election. As a nation divided, polarized under two extreme ideologies that alienate one another, average Americans in the center feel as if they are literally stuck in the crossfire.
There are a lot of moderates who are struggling for some middle ground on all these issues," Snelson adds, and the only way were going to reconcile it is to highlight the folly of the extremes. I want to give them some verbal ammo they can use."
To Snelson, a T-shirt, visor cap, lapel button, or a bumper sticker can do just that. With no negative connotations, his question is the perfect way to express what a lot of people from all walks of life are thinking right now. Finger pointing is not the answer, he reasons, Because when elephants and donkeys fight it is usually the grass that suffers."
The Where Would Jesus Bomb?" merchandise is available for sale now on line at Café Press.com under www.cafepress.com/briansigns. Snelson intends to add to his growing list of thought provoking attire as long as Americans still enjoy their freedom of speech.
