The new National Commodore of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, Commodore Gene Seibert, will lead the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, a 35,000-member uniformed, volunteer component of the United States Coast Guard. Seiberts vision for the Auxiliary in the Post-9/11 era is an organization that will meet Americas changing maritime safety and security challenges while concurrently bringing the American public an array of homeland security and recreational boating and marine and environmental safety programs

(PRWEB) November 10, 2004 -- The new National Commodore of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, Commodore Gene Seibert, will lead the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, a 35,000-member uniformed, volunteer component of the United States Coast Guard.

Seiberts vision for the Auxiliary in the Post-9/11 era is an organization that will meet Americas changing maritime safety and security challenges while concurrently bringing the American public an array of homeland security and recreational boating and marine and environmental safety programs.

He relieved Commodore Bill Edgerton in a time-honored traditional change of command ceremony Nov. 1 at Coast Guard headquarters in Washington, DC. The Commandant of the Coast Guard, ADM Thomas Collins, Coast Guard flag officers, the senior Auxiliary leadership team and members of the extended Coast Guard family attended the ceremony.

The overarching mission of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary is to contribute to the safety and security of our citizens, ports, waterways and coastal regions. We will balance our missions of recreational boating safety and Coast Guard support with maritime homeland security and other challenges that emerge as a result of our growing understanding of changes required in the post-9/11 era," Seibert said.

Watchwords for Seiberts two year term as National Commodore are Ready, Responsive and Resolute," blending with those of ADM Collins; Readiness, People and Stewardship."

Ready focuses on the roles and missions for which the Auxiliary has been given authority to fulfill. Responsive is our ability to respond, to adapt and to embrace change. Resolute speaks to our value system, our commitment to our nation and the Coast Guard; dedication to our mission and our commitment to the public," Seibert said.
