Restaurateur Who Grew Up in the Business Celebrated Restaurant's Second Anniversary

In a city known for exceptional Mexican restaurants, starting a new one might be considered a risky venture for a recent college graduate. But that's exactly what Russell Reyes did after he earned a degree in accounting and finance from the University of Texas at San Antonio, Texas. Two years later, Perico's celebrated its second anniversary with a loyal following of regular customers and a significant record of success.

(PRWEB) November 10, 2004 -- "Perico's is fairly new on the San Antonio scene," Reyes said, "but the recipes have been in my family for generations. And I grew up in the business -- working in Panchito's, my parents' restaurants, all my life."

Experience, special recipes, and family tradition come together to create a singular dining experience. The atmosphere is elegant, much as you would expect to find in the interior of Mexico. The décor is based on a parrot theme, and an oak-covered patio makes outdoor dining a pleasure.

Perico's menu features Northern Mexican food and offers weekday and weekend specials. Caldo, Mexican style brisket, empanadas, queso flameado, calabacita con pollo, gorditas, and steak tampiqueña, as well as homemade corn and flour tortillas, are popular items. Weekend specials include barbacoa, menudo, chilaquiles with cheese, pork chops and eggs, chorizo, and machacado.

The staff prides itself on service, adding little touches of luxury, such as baby orchids in ladies' margaritas.

Perico's observed its second anniversary on November 8 with T-shirts for guests and a fruit basket raffle.

Reyes said, "The restaurant business is in my blood, just like my family's recipes are on the menu. The first two years have been amazing, but I expect next year to be even better. Customers tell us it's fun to come to Perico's. They keep coming back and bringing their friends. And we keep growing!"
