Liberal Talk Radio Show host Tony Trupiano recognized within minutes of the start of his show the day after the election that his vast audience was devastated by the election results. Angry, depressed, and discouraged by the results, Trupiano decided this group needed a voice. He offered during first post-election show to lead a grass roots organization, now named People of Influence: Democracy for those Left Behind, to give voice to the concerns of the record 55+ million people who voted for change in this country. The response? Overwhelming.
ÂThe divisiveness the Bush Administration has manifested, from the war in Iraq, to not supporting the work of the 9/11 Commission; from the massive loss of jobs, especially manufacturing jobs, to harboring outward intolerance of homosexuals, it is no wonder that the shock and dismay many voters are experiencing is reaching a fever pitch post election. They need a voice. Trupiano expressed. No longer willing to wait for Party Politics to speak for them, this grass roots cause, according to Trupiano, was met with Âan immediate, profound, and a resounding call for action by his audience. Trupiano obliged.
People of Influence: Democracy for those Left Behind will begin its mission immediately with a letter to President Bush reminding him that his agenda is not representative of all the people, and that accountability in the White House will be the mandate of this group of committed activists. There is fierce opposition to the conservative, right-wing Âmandate the mainstream media keeps telling us that is election was about. But a 51%-48% tally in the final vote count cannot be considered a mandate, by any definition, and there are millions of Americans who will not be lead into an America that does not reflect their values as well.
With America on the cusp of a new direction, and a country that is divided, not just by politics, but by deep philosophical differences, Trupiano offers an empowering avenue to those who feel left behind by this election and has pledged his resources, and the collective resources of the American people to bring a more inclusive message forward.
