During his keynote address at the DCI BPM conference in San Francisco today, BPM Group CEO Steve Towers unveiled the 8 Omega Framework for Business Process, a comprehensive and proven approach for successfully meeting the demanding business challenges in today’s global markets. Part of a broad series of business process training & improvement programs, the 8 Omega Framework delivers the guidance needed for organizations to assess and improve their BPM and performance capabilities. The European launch will take place at the IQPC BPM in Finance conference in London next week.

The BPM Group represents a global community of large corporate users and enterprise software vendors. With operations in the USA and Europe, the BPM Group is uniquely positioned to assist organizations in the understanding and application of best practice BPM thinking. Through a range of seminars, conferences and networking events, the group promotes professional education and executive awareness on the importance and impact of BPM.

The 8 Omega Framework for Business Process draws on the 20+ years experience the BPM Group’s principals have accumulated delivering successful process improvement projects for large corporations throughout the world.

The version of 8 Omega released today has been tested in 12 international organizations during the last 6 months with consistent results highlighted by increased and faster ROI (Return On Investment ) for a variety of process related projects and programs.

"The 8 Omega concept was born from the continued frustrations of our large corporate members." commented Steve Towers "They were becoming increasingly disillusioned by the closed or academic nature of BPM techniques and approaches. In business, managers and executives need to deal with the here and now. They have no time to worry about whether approaches are based on the latest theories, they need to know that approaches will deliver solid business results and fast!"

The 8 Omega Framework is specifically designed to be an effective means of building into corporations and organizations the natural ability to react to external pressures with fast, efficient and appropriate internal response. By properly preparing the organization for positive reaction to external forces, these forces no longer create the stress and risk commonplace today.

“We welcome and endorse this initiative from the BPM Group and feel that the practical approach promoted by 8 Omega will make it more accessible to a wider audience in organizations.” said Roger Burlton, CEO of Process Renewal Group. “At PRG we specialize in the application of practical frameworks for Business Process and have found that the traditional academic approaches are just not resonating with executives in today’s fast paced world. We look forward to continuing our work with the BPM Group on frameworks and helping users apply its principles.”

The 8 Omega Framework addresses the four key perspectives critical for organizational success – Strategy, People, Process and Systems – in a carefully balanced manner. These key perspectives are then leveraged through a refined, tested and proven improvement cycle that ensures high adoption of new processes and systems. The two aspects are linked through a series of key questions or learning points, thus serving the role of guide or mentor for improved project and corporate success.

By making the 8 Omega Framework publicly available without charge, the BPM Group might be surprising some observers. But as Business Development Director Mark McGregor points out "There should be no monopoly on common sense! Our commitment to our Corporate and Solution provider membership is to provide training and other services that will ensure the success of BPM, while helping both vendors and users deliver significant performance improvement. As a part of that aim, it is only natural for us to deliver a practical, supplier and theory neutral framework to assist with the alignment and focus around Business Process."

Additional elements of 8 Omega are expected to be released throughout the next 6 months and will include toolkits, techniques, articles, training and seminars.

In addition to a membership of over 8,500, the BPM Group is supported by vendors such as Microsoft, Oracle, Tibco Ultimus, Mega, IDS-Scheer and other leading players in the BPM space.
