Correction: Webpavement Implements Digital Signage Technology for Largest Building in Washington, DC

Dynamically updated events information displayed on LCD screens replaces static signage and manual processes at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) November 12, 2004 -- Webpavement announced today the completed implementation of Webpavement digital signage solutions and dynamically updated events information for the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in Washington, DC.

The digital signage network includes 15 Philips LCD displays installed in custom designed floor standing and wall mounted enclosures that are strategically placed in high traffic areas throughout the massive building. Webpavement media players drive dynamic meetings and events information and other content across the network of LCD displays. Users schedule content for playback on the digital signage network using the popular Webpavement Sign Server, a powerful web-based system for advanced content management, scheduling and performance reporting. The Webpavement Sign Server is installed on-site and available via the local area network.

Specific project requirements included: the solution must be intuitive to even novice users, the solution must be easily accessed by users without the need to install and update client software (i.e. web-based), the solution must employ security to restrict/permit individual users access to schedule content to individual signs in the network, the solution must leverage existing infrastructure, the solution must support a variety of media formats, all systems must be installed centrally in the on-site data center, and each LCD must display a unique channel of content.

Webpavements professional services were instrumental in the successful implementation of this digital signage network. Webpavement resources planned, designed, specified, and installed the technologies needed to meet the project requirements. Webpavement also provided custom integration to dynamically display meetings and events information on the LCD displays. This was previously a manual process that required a person to print and deliver to each directory location a paper bulletin with the days meetings and events. This process was repeated every day. The new digital signage system will save time and printing costs while offering building visitors timely way-finding information while navigating the large building premises.

All systems were installed in one rack enclosure centrally located in the on-site data center. Webpavement used Magenta Research MultiView transmitters and receivers to distribute 1024x768 video and audio over Cat-5e cable from each centralized media player to the corresponding LCD display -- some displays were nearly 1000 feet away.
