Youre Under Arrest! Eastern Fuels Teams With Edenton Officials For A Charitable Cause

Eastern Fuels of Edenton, NC hosted a Jail 'em and Bail 'em" fundraiser to support the Jim "Catfish" Hunter Chapter of the ALSA.

Edenton, NC (PRWEB) November 11, 2004 -- The Jim Catfish" Hunter Chapter of ALSA received a generous contribution from a Jail 'em and Bail 'em" fundraiser hosted by Eastern Fuels of Edenton. Members of the community were put behind bars" and required to have someone post their bond for their release.

Thirty people were locked up, including Edenton Mayor Roland Vaughan and Town Manager Ann Marie Knighton, by Chief Gregory Bonner of the Edenton Police Department. Steve Leary, Plant Manager of Eastern Fuels-Edenton, organized the event and stated that it was a success thanks to the generous support of many admirable businesses in Edenton.

The event raised over $3000 for The Jim Catfish" Hunter Chapter while providing an increased awareness among the community regarding the affliction more commonly known as Lou Gehrigs disease.

The Jail 'em and Bail 'em event was held at the Eastern Fuels office located on 1113 North Broad St. in Edenton. A number of employees and volunteers donated their time and efforts into what they considered to be a cause thats especially close to the hearts of many people in eastern N.C.

Volunteers Andy Proctor, Misty Biggs, and Jenny Clifton were on hand to cook hot dogs for the supporters who came out to help contribute to the cause. Volunteers from the Jim Catfish" Hunter ALS Foundation, including Helen Hunter (Jim Catfish" Hunters widow), Tommy Harrell and Sherry Harrell, participated and provided the tent, chairs, and tables. Pepsi Cola donated drinks and US Cellular donated phones.

Eastern Fuels of Edenton also held a raffle at the Chowan County Fair. A Phoenix Gas Grill and a set of gas logs were raffled off. Lisa Butler and Ron Tippin held the winning tickets.

ALS affects as many as 30,000 people in the United States at any given time and 5,600 new cases are diagnosed annually. The Jim Catfish" Hunter Chapter covers both N.C. and S.C., and is one of 39 chapters of The ALS Association.
