Authentium Wins Virus Bulletin 100% Award

Authentium extends winning streak; wins yet another Virus Bulletin 100% Award for Command Antivirus for Microsoft Server 2003; award adds to previous 2004 awards for Microsoft Windows NT and Microsoft Windows XP.

West Palm Beach, FL (PRWEB) November 12, 2004 -- Authentium announced today that its Command Antivirus for Microsoft Server 2003 antivirus product was recently awarded the prestigious Virus Bullet 100% award by UK-based testing firm Virus Bulletin.

The VB100 award marks the third time in three tests that Authentium has entered and then subsequently been awarded a 100% award for its highly-respected Command Antivirus technology. Authentium previously won during 2004 for both Microsoft Windows NT and XP platforms.

We are very happy to be receiving yet another Virus Bulletin 100% award," said John Sharp, Chairman & CEO of Authentium. Independent awards like this mean a lot to our customers -- even more so when it refers to the security of an important product such as Microsoft Server 2003. Of the thirty four vendors listed, less than 60% submitted product for review, and several of the major vendors that did submit product subsequently failed the test. It is great to be one of the winners."

Authentiums latest award comes on the heels of its announcement last week that it will also be venturing outside of the Windows world to tackle a new market with the launch of Authentium ESP Antivirus for Mac OS X.

There is a lot of demand currently for a new antivirus product for Mac. With millions of school children using Macs, and much high-end design work reliant on the platform, a cleverly-engineered threat, such as a variation of Opener (also know as MacOS/Renepo) could create problems for Mac owners unused to dealing with threats. We saw an opening for a new product to enter the market that would utilize our extensible ESP framework."

Authentiums antivirus products, which protect an increasing number of ISP subscriber desktops and power an increasing number of email threat filtering companies in North America, have been developed over a period of more than twelve years. Investment in product development has increased in recent years. Authentium has also invested significantly in client-side firewall, anti-phishing, real-time spyware detection, and application hardening technologies, resulting in deals with cable industry giants Comcast, and Cox Communications.

We are just at the beginning of a series of newly-engineered and improved product launches designed to protect both emerging and evolving technology. Were confident that these new products, along with our emerging relationships with industry leaders, will give us an increased share of the security software market over the next eighteen months," said Mr. Sharp.
